  8. What is the difference between ITIL® and ISO/IEC 20000?

ITIL® is a collection of best practices within the field of IT Service Management, based on the experience of IT-organizations. Companies can use (parts) of ITIL® for the structuring, improving and managing of internal IT-processes, but they cannot certify themselves for ITIL®. ISO/IEC 20000 is an international, independent standard which sets quality requirements for organizations in the field of IT Service Management. Organizations can get certification for ISO/IEC 20000. This way they can prove themselves as good suppliers of IT Services. ISO/IEC 20000 is also ‘framework-neutral’. The standard does not indicate which other standards, best practices or frameworks you can use to meet the quality requirements. The EXIN ISO/IEC 20000 certification program for IT Professionals does focus on this. It teaches you to use the standard as a compass with which you will choose your own path in the complex network of other standards, best practices and frameworks in the field of IT Service Management.

  6. Can I contract Accredited Trainers, Supervisors and Employees?

Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) can contract Freelance Trainers or have their own trainers Accredited as part of their ATP accreditation. In addition, they can purchase accredited training materials from an Accredited Courseware Provider (ACP). ACP's are organizations that develop and market accredited training materials for EXIN exams.

Accredited Examination Centers (AEC's) can contract Accredited Supervisors and Employees to order and supervise exam-sessions.

  7. If I modify my accredited courseware, do I need to have it re-accredited?

We expect that all Accredited Training Providers (ATP's) constantly improve the quality of their training courses and respond to developments in both their professional field and education in general. Provided that these changes do not violate the conditions for accreditation, this will have no impact on the status of the accreditation.

  8. Do I need to re-apply for accreditation if I start a new course?

Yes; all courses for which accreditation is mandatory must be submitted for accreditation. In case your organization is already an EXIN Partner, you do not need to repeat the base accreditation. The Accreditation Department will inform you on the exact procedure, depending on the accreditation request. Please contact  EXIN.

  9. I am a legitimate Training Provider. Why should I get accredited?

EXIN encourages all training providers to be accredited because EXIN accreditation offers generally accepted proof that independently set quality standards have been met.
