Most frequently asked questions

  1. When will I receive my certificate?

All candidates will be able to download a digital version of the certificate from the Candidate Portal as soon as the results are available. This digital certificate is an original and official document. If your Candidate Portal states Digital Certificate Only, no hard copy certificate has been ordered yet. In this case you can order a (re)print of your certificate from your Portal.

If you or your Examination Center already ordered a hard copy certificate, it will be printed and sent out as soon as your official result is ready. However, it is necessary that you meet all the pre-requirements.

The certificate will be sent to the address that has been provided and confirmed by you. Please note that it may take up to four weeks for your certificate to be delivered, depending on your location.

Use this service to check your certificate's status.

  2. When will I receive my result?

    This depends on several aspects.

After you have finished a web based exam, you will immediately receive a temporary result.
Please note that all exam information needs to be sent to EXIN by your Exam Center. Upon receipt of this information your final exam result will be processed and sent to you by email.

A paper based exam takes more time to process, because EXIN needs to receive your answer form from your Exam Center.
Your final result can only be provided when you have confirmed your personal details. When you have not received an email requesting confirmation, please contact EXIN. The email will then be (re)sent to you.

After your details have been confirmed by you and checked by EXIN, you will receive an email stating that your results are available in your Candidate Portal.
We aim to provide you with the final result within 2 weeks after the exam.

  3. Can I prepare for an exam without a training or should I attend a training?

For some exams, self study is an option. However, EXIN recommends taking part in a training and for the higher level exams, a training is mandatory. For more information, please see the exam page of your exam, to be found under ‘All Exams'.

Your certificate will be printed within two work days and sent to the address provided by you in your Candidate Portal.

You can also download your Coaching Report and Result Paper from your Candidate Portal under the ‘Exams and Results’ tab.

  8. I have a very good internet connection but still can not pass the bandwidth test, what can I do?

There are multiple reasons why a bandwidth test could fail, even though the internet connection is of good quality. Sharing an internet connection with multiple devices narrows the bandwidth. Kindly disconnect some devices (when at home) to broaden the bandwidth. Another problem could be the distance between the computer and the internet connection. The closer you are to the internet connection the better the bandwidth will be. If these solutions do not help try taking the bandwidth test on a different computer or on a different network.

  9. Is it possible to cancel my EXIN Anywhere exam?

If you have not used your exam code, you can cancel your exam within 14 days after ordering it and will receive a full refund. The money will be refunded to you within 2 weeks. You can cancel by using the login details in your invitation mail under the header 'cancellation'.

  7. What is the difference between ITIL® and ISO/IEC 20000?

ITIL® is a collection of best practices within the field of IT Service Management, based on the experience of IT-organizations. Companies can use (parts) of ITIL® for the structuring, improving and managing of internal IT-processes, but they cannot certify themselves for ITIL®. ISO/IEC 20000 is an international, independent standard which sets quality requirements for organizations in the field of IT Service Management. Organizations can get certification for ISO/IEC 20000. This way they can prove themselves as good suppliers of IT Services. ISO/IEC 20000 is also ‘framework-neutral’. The standard does not indicate which other standards, best practices or frameworks you can use to meet the quality requirements. The EXIN ISO/IEC 20000 certification program for IT Professionals does focus on this. It teaches you to use the standard as a compass with which you will choose your own path in the complex network of other standards, best practices and frameworks in the field of IT Service Management.

    • Expert

...and for the following standards and best practices:

    • ITSM based on ISO/IEC 20000

    • Application Management and Business Information Management
    • TMap®
    • MOF
    • Tracks
    • ITIL®
  2. What are the requirements for accreditation?

First of all, your organization must meet the general quality requirements that EXIN imposes on any type of business operations. If you meet these requirements, you will become an EXIN Partner, which allows you to become accredited for a number of different components. The quality requirements differ for each component.

Independent Trainers obviously do not need to become EXIN Partners. As an Independent (Freelance) Trainer you need to apply for your individual accreditation.

  3. What is the cost of accreditation?

Costs depend on the type of accreditation your requesting. But a as general rule all accredited organizations pay a standard basic fee.

    • Base Accreditation (EXIN Partner):  you pay the base fee once, which covers all accreditation types.
    • Accredited Training Provider (ATP), you pay the basic ATP fee (this includes the accreditation fee for all Foundation modules). Please note: there are separate fees for Advanced and Expert modules.
    • Accredited Courseware Provider (ACP), you only pay a fee per accredited module, including foundation modules.
    • Accredited Examination Center (AEC), is free of charge.

  4. Is accreditation mandatory?

For some courses, accreditation is mandatory. For other courses, the accreditation is optional. For more information, please contact us

  5. Until when is the accreditation valid?

Accreditation is infinite. However, we will perform a comprehensive audit each year in order to assess whether the accredited components still meet the conditions for accreditation. Based on infringement of the contract EXIN is also allowed to terminate the accreditation.

  6. Can I contract Accredited Trainers, Supervisors and Employees?

Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) can contract Freelance Trainers or have their own trainers Accredited as part of their ATP accreditation. In addition, they can purchase accredited training materials from an Accredited Courseware Provider (ACP). ACP's are organizations that develop and market accredited training materials for EXIN exams.

Accredited Examination Centers (AEC's) can contract Accredited Supervisors and Employees to order and supervise exam-sessions.

  7. If I modify my accredited courseware, do I need to have it re-accredited?

We expect that all Accredited Training Providers (ATP's) constantly improve the quality of their training courses and respond to developments in both their professional field and education in general. However, any changes in the course program must be submitted to EXIN for evaluation. Provided that these changes do not violate the conditions for accreditation, this will have no impact on the status of the accreditation.

  8. Do I need to re-apply for accreditation if I start a new course?

Yes; all courses for which accreditation is mandatory must be submitted for accreditation. In case your organization is already an EXIN Partner, you do not need to repeat the base accreditation. The Accreditation Department will inform you on the exact procedure, depending on the accreditation request. Please contact  EXIN.

  9. I am a legitimate Training Provider. Why should I get accredited?

EXIN encourages all training providers to be accredited because EXIN accreditation offers generally accepted proof that independently set quality standards have been met. To receive a stamp of approval from a globally renown exam institution like EXIN offers significant competitive advantage to individual players within the IT training sector.

To assist with these and other questions prospective Accredited Training Providers may have, a detailed Accreditation Guide is available on request. Please contact us.

  10. Are online resources available for Accredited Training Providers or Accredited Exam Centers?

EXIN has Partnernet devoted exclusively to EXIN Partners. EXIN Partnernet is a separate login-section where partners can securely access documents which will help them to prepare training courses. In order to assist Accredited Training Providers, Accredited Courseware Providers and Accredited Exam Centers, EXIN offers a comprehensive overview of exam related documents like manuals, an Accreditation Guide, sample exams, service documents and track descriptions.
