EXIN and BCS Develop SIAM Certification

EXIN, a leading international certification institute in the ICT domain and BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT will take their alliance to the next level by developing the new certification program in Service Integration and Management: EXIN BCS SIAM.


More and more companies choose to outsource their IT services with different IT service suppliers to optimize their company processes. Service Integration and Management (SIAM) is the approach to manage and coordinate these suppliers and to align their services while avoiding vendor lock-in to support the goals of the business functions. The forward thinking of the SIAM approach will lead to the integration of Service Management across the complete supply-chain.


Whilst SIAM has emerged as a new discipline within ITSM, there is currently no training or certification available on the market as yet.


Bernd Taselaar, CEO of EXIN, remarks: “The EXIN BCS SIAM certification program fits in perfectly with our existing portfolio, as EXIN has a long history of developing certifications in the area of IT Service Management. This new certification program presents an excellent opportunity for EXIN to expand the portfolio and to fill a gap in the current ICT certification landscape. In response to growth in the demand for IT professional certifications, BCS and EXIN formed an alliance in 2015 to support ICT professionals globally. The agreement allows BCS and EXIN to offer each other’s professional certification portfolios around the world.


Jon Buttriss, CEO of BCS Learning and Development Ltd says about the partnership: “SIAM is a topic that both EXIN and BCS take an interest in, as it is becoming more and more relevant in today’s marketplace, and it has an international appeal. It is a natural next step in our already strong partnership that we should now develop this new certification program together”.


EXIN and BCS will be working closely together with Scopism Limited, a new start-up that has developed a training syllabus and supporting Body of Knowledge about SIAM, in close collaboration with industry experts.  


The content of the new SIAM certification program will be developed by a forward-looking team of experts with extensive knowledge of and background in IT Service Management, which have recognized the need for a more integrated approach to IT Service Management. The Foundation certification is expected to become available in Q1 2017, followed later by a Professional level certification.
