GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. This regulation was created with the intention of strengthening and unifying data protection within the EU for all individuals. Aside from this, it also ensures that companies outside of the EU who deal with EU citizen data have to conform to the regulation.
GDPR entered into force on the 27th of April 2016. The deadline for compliance is the 25th of May 2018 – two years after the adoption of the regulation.
